Caroline Hulse
The Restless Painter
Caroline Hulse 1949-2022
Caroline Hulse described herself as a restless painter. Her paintings moved from abstract to figurative, narrative to landscapes, but always auto biographical. She never stayed still creatively and was always searching, exploring, creating, both in her art and her life. To watch her paint she would be entirely engaged in the process, working on instinct, her movement translated in brushmarks, her colour language unique and immediately recognisable.

Caroline started JoeDaisy Studio, an incredibly successful teaching and painting studio, where she designed and ran courses and workshops, nurturing and inspiring her students. Generous and supportive, knowledgable and passionate, she left an incredible legacy of legions of artists who were encouraged by her to start and develop their practice.

To summarise her life and works in a few paragraphs isn't possible, but I hope that by looking at her work you will get a sense of her restless pursuit of expression, of who she knew she was, might be, should have been.
